Adam led Celestial Zephyr out of his stall, eyebrows furrowing as he noticed Skya. He hadn't seen her in several months. She seemed a bit preoccupied and he didn't stop her when he noticed that she had a trailer set and ready to lead Seeker into. He debated on if he ought to ask what was on her mind or just leave her. Perhaps she was getting into the zone early. He knew that he sometimes zoned out before races, mind far away from what was going on around him. He distinctly recalled how far off his mind had been before the Breeders' Cup Classic, too. He settled with just giving an encouraging smile to the female jockey.

[This is all I'm gonna say. In the future, try to take the chat to the chatroom, please. And I noticed that the posts, so long before, gradually got shorter. It's gotta be a bit longer, please. Trying to get this to be a nice, literate roleplay.]
Aiden nodded as he gazed calmly back at Lynn. "Just relax for a little bit. Want to watch TV or no?" He asked, sinking down to sit on the couch near her feet. He seemed pretty comfortable around Lynn these days. Office work was becoming easier, especially now that Mr. West was showing him a few tips and various organization matters.
Miguel glanced back at BJ for a long moment, considering the words. "I appreciate it," He murmured at last, leading Paranormal Vortex out of his stall. "I've dealt with a few high-strung horses. Maidens as well. This'un here is a bit of a maiden. New to the track according to Adam." He had seen how the colt acted and studied him, how he moved, how he reacted.
Adam groomed Celestial Zephyr's coat out until it could outshine a brilliant new penny. It was glossy and his muscles rippled proudly beneath it, whereas his cropped mane and semi-short tail were inky black, fluffy even. Lynn nodded. "Sure," she chirped, feeling a bit better from the ibuprofen. She turned on the TV, flipping through the channels a bit before reaching over to hand the remote to Aiden. "I'm not sure what you like to watch, so you can just turn on whatever," Lynn said.
BJ nodded. "No problem." He shrugged, putting a halter on Patriot and leading him into the cross ties. He spoke as he brushed down the big cherry bay horse. "That's good, because Mid and Patriot are both maidens yet. Rags won his first race about a week ago." BJ grinned proudly. The little dusty chestnut stallion may not be the flashiest horse, but he was quite a gentlemen and a racehorse.

"Nah. I don't know what's on TV these days. I'm game for anything. Wait, I lied. No reality TV. Ew." Aiden wrinkled his nose at the thought. He'd made the mistake of watching it once before and had felt as though he was losing brain cells afterwards, and disgusted in the human race.
Miguel had Paranormal Vortex tacked up surprisingly quickly. Even the colt seemed shocked to suddenly have the bit in his mouth and the girth tightened. Had someone put the jockey on turbo speed? The splash colt was at least expecting to have weight into the saddle and didn't fidget when Miguel used the mounting block, landing lightly in the saddle.

Lynn laughed. "Hah, alright. I don't really, either. The last thing I watched..." she furrowed her eyebrows, eyes clouding, trying to think of the answer. Wait. What answer? Lynn bit her lip angrily. She couldn't even remember whatever it was she was trying to remember! She cleared her throat. "Uh, I honestly don't know, it's been so long," she tried to shrug it off, lying a bit because she didn't know if it had been a while since she'd watched TV or not. "I guess you can't go wrong with cartoons, right?" She raised an eyebrow, flipping the channels until she got to Nickelodeon. "Now this must be better than reality TV," she rolled her eyes, laughing a bit at Spongebob Squarepants.
[Oh yes I went there. xD Spongebob has always been my favorite cartoon. Me and my brother can practically quote whole episodes...]
BJ followed Miguel, tacking up Patriot but taking his time, coming out to use the mounting block a bit later than the other jockey. The young stallion had went through training, but he didn't like to take the bit quickly, and often puffed his belly out when it was time to tighten the girth, so it took BJ a bit longer with him than the other horses.

"This colt's owner should just take out a trainer's license. He schooled the colt while he was out of racing with an injury." Miguel murmured, patting PV's neck. The colt had taken a while to get used to tack but he was now steady, accepting it only because he knew he'd get to run and running was fun. He'd tolerate the bit and saddle if it meant running.
Aiden stared at the talking sponge on TV, fascinated. "How...how are there humans underwater when that squirrel needs an air helmet? And...is that a fat, old Aquaman?" Aiden stared at Mermaid Man, bewildered.

"Mm." BJ nodded to Miguel, rubbing Patriot's nose as he stepped up into the saddle and urged the young horse into a walk to warm him up. Patriot was usually good under saddle, but he was known to be very playful and could get overly hyper. He also was a bit of a 'scardey-cat' and could shy at almost anything if he wanted to. BJ had to be careful to warm him up thoroughly so the colt wouldn't run away with him once he got him into a gallop.
Lynn's eyes widened. "Don't tell me you've never seen Spongebob?" she exclaimed, laughing. "It's been my favorite cartoon since forever," Lynn paused, realizing that she'd made a time reference without stuttering, a bit proud of herself. "It's really funny, but you're right, it makes absolutely no sense." She looked at the TV, still mesmerized by it. It was her distraction when she was younger. "Pretty much," she grinned. "His name is Mermaid Man. And that's Barnacle Boy..."

[Had dinner, sorry.]
Miguel had no idea just how spooky PV could be. It hadn't been mentioned that he'd spooked at a spider hanging down at eye level from the rafters above at some point. He, like many horses, spooked when plastic bags blew past in the wind. In the meantime, he strained to go at a faster pace than the fast walk he was at now. It wasn't quite a trot but it was definitely not a leisurely pace either.
Aiden listened with rapt attention. "I never really paid much attention to TV, to be honest. I think maybe I've seen one episode. They were showing how to make...it's called a Krabby Patty...?" Aiden was frowning, unsure if he'd gotten the term correct. "And I've heard that the phrase 'My leg' is in nearly every episode..."

BJ urged Patriot into a slow, jogging paced trot. The colt chomped at the bit, eager for a faster pace, but was held back by the jockey's steady hand. "Easy there, Patriot. You're still warming up," he soothed his cherry bay stallion. Patriot swiveled his ears back and flicked one in acknowledgement. He was starting to learn the sound of BJ's voice.
"Yeah. I only ever watched some cartoons. Yep, Krabby Patties." Lynn nodded. "Oh, really? Well, you know something I don't." She offered him a small smile.

Miguel grinned and murmured a few soft words of Spanish into PV's ear and the colt snorted. His pace eased in response, though he continued to bounce a bit. He was known to step high in excitement, not too similar to Zenyatta's famous dance, but still showing off. He was already quite the looker for his splash markings but showing off would gain the attention of more people.
"It's just something I heard. One of Mr. West's young children told me on my last visit. I didn't know what he was talking about until now. Sweet little kid." Aiden was glad to have found a good business partner, especially one close and willing to help him with the facility. He was enjoying this talk with Lynn as well.
