<sub>Barrow didn't dare cry out in pain, he simply got back to his feet and started circling Jai. He let out a low growl and than shot forward, grabbing his ankle and biting down hard on it. He realsed him and phased. He brought his fist up in a nice upper cut that slammed into Jai's nose. A low growl escaped Barrow as took a few steps back and waited to see what advantage he would have.

Ember watched, her eyes wide with fear for her best friend, I swear if you hurt him.. she growled. "Barrow, quit it! Both of y'all stop. You're gonna end up killing each other."she called, shaking her head. Were they really that dumb?</sub>

<sub>Jai didn't hesitate as he shook himself and lunged forward. He knew that he vastly outweighed Barrow in skill and advantage. At the lost moment his form shifted into a massive black wolf and he sunk his teeth into Barrow's shoulder. He snapped a few times then lifted Barrow and tossed him away. A simple shake of Jai's head cleared the blood from his nose away. He attacked me first, Jai responded. I'm just defending myself. But if you're worried, he won't be damaged permanently.

Jai swung around and lunged again, his form blurring and changing to a powerful feline - the black leopard. A single smack of the feline's paw sent Barrow reeling even as Jai danced out of the way of Barrow's retaliation. His tail flicked marginally and he watched Barrow carefully, waiting to see what the wolf would do.</sub>

<sub>Barrow bit down hard on tongue to keep from crying out as he laid sprawled on the forest floor. Slowly and painfully, he got back to his feet. A wild, desperate look appeared in his eyes and he phased. He ducked his head and with a whine approached the big feline. He rolled onto his back and tucked his tail between his legs. Than he leapt, slamming into front paws into Jai's ankles. He snarled once more and than bit Ito Jai's shoulder.

Ember snarled and jumped down from the street,"Enough!"she ordered, her temper blazing."Y'all two are the biggest idiots ever. Barrow I love you, but not like that. And Jai you're idiot for agreeing to fight him. Jai, lets go! Leave the wolf alone."</sub>

<sub>Jai growled and lunged at Barrow, slamming the wolf to the ground. He tore into Barrow's shoulder once more, clamping his teeth down several times before he phased and kicked the wolf away. "Go home, Priciolici," he growled, "and nurse your wounds. Ember, fly," he ordered, casting one glance at the princess. "Do not disobey right now. It wouldn't be pretty." Jai's voice was tight with fury, his hands curled. The beast that lived in every Schimba struggled to get out, and its fury glowed in Jai's eyes. "Go home," he hissed, taking a step towards Ember. "Fly and get home. I'll be right behind you."

He struggled to smother the beast inside him.
Kill! it snarled, pushing against its bindings. Jai shoved it down again, but if Barrow tried to attack him again, it would likely escape.</sub>

<sub>Ember raised an eyebrow, but knew better than to question Jai at that moment. She saw the fury that burned in his eyes and the way his hands had curled into fists. Before she left though she walked to Barrow,"You okay?"she asked, concerned. She touched his wound and saw that it was already healing."Go home and sleep it off."she smiled and than phased. She let out a slight caw of goodbye and than shot into the night sky. She smiled softly, she knew Barrow had deserved it, she just didn't approve of Jai tearing into him so much. She glanced back at Jai, wondering why the heck he was so furious.

Barrow snarled at Jai, he phased and than turned and headed home. As his paws soared over the forest floor, he tipped his head back and howled.</sub>

<sub>Jai exploded upwards in a burst of power, shifting into a peregrine falcon. He banked towards home and sped off, fury burning in his beady eyes. Don't worry about me. His voice was soft, but still angry; hell, he didn't know why he was so angry either. Well, that was a lie. He knew that the beast inside of him was causing it, but he didn't know why his beast was so furious. Yeah, he'd been charged with watching over Ember, and he'd done just that. Why was the beast so adamant about Barrow's death? Jai knew that his beast wanted Barrow's heart on a platter, but what he didn't know was why.

Unole glanced up and furrowed his brow. "Out drinking - again, Ember?" he sighed as his daughter returned home.</sub>

<sub>Ember landed lightly on her talons, she phased and shrugged."Yeah.. I was having fun too. Till Jai had to ruin it."she said, heading up toward her room. She was just tired and wanted to sleep it off."Tell Jai to come to my room and tell him to bring a glass of water with him. He has some explaining to do."she called as took the stairs two at a time.

She shut her door and kicked off her shoes. A sigh escaped her lips as she started getting comfortable. First she let her hair loose and it fell back in lose waves. She frowned as she started to dig through her closet looking through her clothes for something comfortable to wear to bed.</sub>

<sub>[sorry, went to get food.]

"I doubt it was Jai's fault," Unole called after his daughter and turned his attention to the Schimba in question as Jai entered. "Son," he greeted, "have a seat."
Jai nodded and did as was asked. He took a deep breath and met Unole's gaze.
"What happened?"
"The Priciolici, Barrow, almost raped her," Jai muttered and a soft growl rumbled in Unole's throat.
"You did right in chasing him off," the Schimba King soothed. "She wants to speak to you in her room, but asked for a glass of water." He hesitated. "Next time, try not to let her get drunk, eh?"
Jai nodded and stood, heading for the kitchen. He retrieved a glass and flicked the tap on, allowing the glass to fill three-quarters before he cut off the water and trudged towards the stairs. He drug his feet but in no time he'd reached Ember's door. "Damn," he breathed soundlessly, and knocked.</sub>

<sub>(It's alright! Sorry for poofing I went and got something to eat. Lol)

Ember tilted her head, peering over her shoulder."C'mon in."she called as she slipped on a loose T-shirt. She smiled as she flopped down on her bed and pulled her knees to her chest. The princess yawned and than stretched out, before she leaned back in her pillows. She was tired and wanted to get this over with.

<sub>Jai sighed and shouldered the door open, placing the glass of water on the bedside table. He instinctively stepped back and crossed his arms over his chest, protecting his chest from any attack. He watched her curiously, waiting for her to start speaking. In the back of Jai's mind the beast stirred, though it did not try to break free. His eyes narrowed fractionally and he took a deep breath. "Yes?"

Memories tried to push themselves to the forefront of Jai's thoughts; memories of horrible times, when his mother was murdered in front of him by his father, when Costin beat him senselessly for being unable to hold his own against the other Strigoi. It was in Costin's 'care' that Jai learned most of his fighting; he learned how to fight dirty, and he's not afraid to resort to it to keep his skin intact.</sub>
