Tally laughed softly, shaking her head,"Eww? Cats? No.. No. They're...icky."she said, grinning. "Nah.. I'm just kidding I have two cats back at my family's ranch and I absolutely adore them. I love all animals."she said and shrugged. Tally tilted her head,"She's testing him. I figured that out. She does that to every horse she meets. If they don't get angry,, she doesn't care for them, but if they do and try and nip her back they have her respect."she said, leaning against the filly,"Mismiki."she whispered, patting the horse's shoulder.
Mali took offense and she nipped at Quinn's heels, before trotting back to Tally's side. She huffed and laid in the hay next to her owner. She fell asleep with her head on her paws.
The filly snorted, her ears still pinned.

Without warning, Shadowfax snaked his head forward, closing his jaw sharply on the filly's shoulder. He jerked his head back, ears flat. Quinn just laughed. "Looks like Shadowfax's got some fight in him yet. I don't think I've ever seen him do that before. And," he continued, "cats aren't as needy. You can chill with them, and they'll doze off without bugging you. They can be pissy though. I'll give them that."
He winced slightly when Mali nipped him, glaring at the pup. "Ow," he muttered, though he made no move to approach the dog. "You been able to saddle her yet? Or even ride her?" he asked out of the blue, partly curious. He'd been taking Shadowfax out for a ride, and politeness stated that he invite her if she was able to ride.

Tally nodded,"Yup. Is was weird.. How fast she picked up being ridden.. Maybe she was someone's pet before she ended up here."she guessed, shrugging. She had ridden her three times and she was already cantering on her."What about him?"she asked and glanced at him, eyebrow raised. She smiled,"Hey look."she said gesturing to her mare.
The filly snorted, her ears flicking forward. She nickered sweetly and gently pressed her muzzle into his neck. He had earned his respect, but his owner not so much. She reached out and tried to lip him. Her ears pinned, she didn't know how she felt about his short person.
Mali opened one eye and barked, her tail wagging.

"He doesn't need a bridle," Quinn said, "hence the odd lead-rope-thing. Don't really use a saddle, either. Just kinda hop on and go. He's taken to me strongly, and it's like we've got a mind reading thing going on." He patted Shadowfax's shoulder. He gave the little dog Mali a grin, winking at the pup as she sprang to alertness.
The horse shook his mane and huffed, returning the filly's gesture, though he watched her warily. If she tried to hurt Quinn, he'd fight her off. No one touched Quinn, and Shadowfax would fight to keep the little person safe. His white tail swished, brushing the back of Quinn's leg and spine lightly. He let out a soft sighed, leaning a bit into Quinn. He had assumed they were going for a ride, but the human had yet to mount. Weird.

Tally smiled, excitement bubbling in her,"Really? That's cool. I ride bareback on leisure rides, but I still use a bridle. I trust her, but not fully. Yet anyways. She just chose me a few days ago anyways."she shrugged,"Mind if I tag along your ride? It will just take me a second to get her bridle on."she inquired, glancing down to look at her feet and her mutt, who was currently chewing on a hay straw, her tail wagging. She hugged her filly, waiting for the go ahead or the no."I'm sorry. I shouldn't have done that. I invited myself and that was rude of me."she bowed her head in embarrassment.

Quinn huffed and waved his hand. "Nah, I was planning on asking ya anyway. Sure, go ahead. Meet you outside the barn?" he offered, turning to lead Shadowfax from the stables. He splayed his hands along Shadowfax's barrel, lifting himself onto the horse's back. He curled his hands around the lead rope he'd made into a sort-of bridle, settling himself just behind Shadowfax's withers. The white horse gave a soft snort, shifting slightly as Quinn awaited Tally to bridle up her filly and get ready. His green eyes turned to scan the horizon, the jagged scar on his face sliding into the shadow as he turned his face towards the sun. It used to embarrass him, the scar. It completely marred his face, and people often stare at him and ask rude and blatant questions. He appreciated that Tally hadn't asked about it. It made it a little better.

Talky nodded as she turned and gave the filly the quickest grooming possible. She had noticed Quinn's scar, but thought better than asking what had happened, she had learned to ignore things like that. Her father had a pretty nasty scar that started at his heart and wound its way up his neck and his cheek. After the quick grooming session, she bridled the filly, at a rather fast pace. She headed out of the stables, the filly following closely behind her. Once outside she mounted with ease,"Ready?"she called to him.
Mali followed closely at the filly's heels, no way was she letting Tally out of her sight.

Quinn nodded, turning his stallion towards the forest. "Ten bucks Shadowfax can outrun your filly," he taunted, grinning. It made his scar pucker up a bit, but Quinn ignored it. If she wanted to be a friend, she'd get used to the scar. It was part of him now. Shadowfax shifted nervously, sensing that he was about to be given 'reign' and allowed to run free. It was quite possible that Shadowfax was the fastest horse that Wasatch had to offer, and it was one of the reasons that Quinn called the stallion the 'Lord of all horses.' Bobbing his head a bit, Shadowfax did this weird, prancing dance in place as he awaited the silent signal that Quinn would give him. He flashed Tally a grin, and then Shadowfax was gone, a single streak against the landscape. Letting out a whoop, Quinn tangled his hands in Shadowfax's mane and held on tight.

Tally shook her head, she trusted her filly, but not that much and not at those break neck speeds. She was still learning the do's and dont's of the filly and she hadn't even named her yet. She trailed after the boy and his horse at a nice brisk canter. No way was Tally letting the filly have free reign. She didn't have a death wish and she certainly didn't feel like dying today. (short for shortness. Dying eggs)

"Alright, great, thanks. Apollo is a good boy. If he gets better, he probably can help with work, too. Oh, we gotta have a bonfire sometime soon, before winter. You know? One last bonfire." Ryan mused and then suddenly grinned. "I saw this horse-safe body paint to decorate horses. People have painted the bones of a horse and it's really cool looking." Ryan commented absently, watching as Slate continued to rub against Nell's hand. "I have a feeling that right now, he just loves you because you are relieving the itchies. C'mon, admit it, you're thrilled that he's allowing you to touch him. Or rather, he is touching you. Actually, I've never seen a horse do that and I've been around them for years. Sure, I've seen trees and fences used but never people. Does he even think of you as a person anymore?"
