Rykon bowed, reaching to the side to snag the epee that was tossed to him. He swung it once, twice, in circle, testing its weight. "Are you ready to begin?" the shape-shifter asked, voice a low rumble.
Faye watched from the wing, her gaze darting back and forth between Luke and the seats she'd saved for Reese and Jax.

Jax sat beside her uncomfortably, rubbing his smooth chin, his gaze followed the people on stage. He got comfortable in his seat, brushing his hair out of his eye slightly when it began to fall into the blue irises. His breathing was slow and shallow, eyes following every flicker of movement.

"Depends if you're ready to get whooped, Professor Rykon." Luke said, his voice powerful as he held back a wave of laughter. He was swinging his sword around his body before tossing it into the air and catching the hilt when it came back down. Took him weeks of practicing to do that.
Reese cheered when Luke caught the sword successfully.

Rykon winked. "Begin!" he ordered, gaze focusing wholly on Luke. His expression became absorbed as he fell into his fencing mode, swinging the epee in a circle with an air of boredom.
Faye grinned when she saw Reese, relaxing and focusing on Luke.

Luke smirked and advanced on Rykon, dodging his blows and striking out with his sword. The lovely sound of metal striking metal filled the air as the two battled. It was as if they were doing a deadly dance, one wrong move and one of them could get injured horribly, not that either of them would make a mistake.

Rykon moved with the grace of the feline, easily dodging and blocking each of Luke's blows - aside from a few. He got in a few good licks, though Rykon himself landed several blows. Without warning, Rykon lunged forward, leapt over Luke, and shifted. A large panther landed lightly on the ground behind Luke, spinning around with a rumbling growl. His eyes glittered with amusement, watching Luke carefully as he assessed his reaction.

The crowd roared with clapping as Rykon shifted. Luke looked somewhat suprised, though he ducked in time to kneel on the ground to Rykon could leap over him. He now stood, swinging his sword again. "Alright, trading in your sword for some claws, Professor?" He asked the big cat.

The large cat curled his lip back in a knowing grin, flicking his tail. With a guttural roar, the cat lunged, but at the last second, veered and danced around Luke. He was light on his feet, waiting and watching for each of Luke's moves. In truth, the fledgling had done remarkably well. He'd landed several good blows that would hurt like a son of a gun in a real battle, possibly even cripple an enemy, but Rykon's quick reflexes and stern warning that Luke was not to mistake the duel for a real battle saved his hide.

Luke kept his sword pointed at Rykon, a small smile on his face, while he copied the big cat's movements. He suddenly lunged, using the flat part of the sword to sweep Rykon's front feet out from under him.

Rykon rolled to his side, grunting in surprise. The cat finally sprang to his feet lightly, tail lashing now. He lunged forward without warning, slamming his head into Luke's stomach. The cat then lunged towards the discarded epee and Rykon shifted again, snagging his sword and spinning towards Luke in one smooth.
