_{Ember's body was as coiled tightly as a spring when Jai first touched her, but slowly she began to melt,It wasn't you. It was me... It's just so frustrating! If I can't defend myself against you than there is no way in hell I can't protect the ones that I love against all my..their enemies. she buried her face in his chest, her hands locked behind Jai's neck. She tilted her head and kissed him softly, than she laid her head on his shoulder. Her breathing hitched, it felt amazing to even be this close to her mate. A shiver went through her and she murmured a curse, her cheeks turning a bright red.}

<sub>To the beast inside Jai - he'd come to refer to it as his wolf; it growled and snarled like one - touch was comforting and soothed its aggression. The wolf in Jai preened and was satisfied that his mate had turned to him for comfort. Jai rumbled with contentment as Ember buried her face in his shoulder. He caught her passing curse and chuckled, craning his head to gently bury his face in her hair. She smelled good - like cotton candy and fresh snow. A weird combination, sure, but it felt natural to Jai.

Little fire, you did your best. I have no doubt that when the time comes, you'll know your true power and you'll send every damn Strigoi to his knees, begging for mercy. You're not weak, and you're not helpless. You didn't know about the mental battles, and you're learning. There's no shame in losing a few times, Luna.</sub>

_{Ember smiled softly, drawing in his scent to comfort her, he smelled of spice, sawdust, and fire. She tilted her head again,"Little Fire? Luna?"she teased softly. Her teasing glint remained as she left firey kisses on his neck. A blush crept up her cheeks as she realized she was in front of her father and her people. Suddenly, she attacked. Her weight slammed into him and she pinned him to the ground, She didn't move though, her hair dangled in his face,"I love you."she murmured, and than she kissed him once more. She giggled when she pulled away and than she shifted into a great lioness. Her fangs ready to poke into Jai's throat.}

_{Jai chuckled and phased into his own choice, a powerful wolf. The creature curled his lips back in a grin, kicked Ember off of him, and zipped away, swinging his body around to pounce of Ember. He darted in, nipping at her before he leapt out of her reach. Wolves were powerful, but Jai wasn't stupid; he was no match for the weight and size of a lion, and so he used his speed to his advantage. He darted in repeatedly, nipping at her, slowly wearing her out before he was gone again, zipping out of her reach.}

_{Ember was not so easily out witted, she danced back, her lips drawn back in a warning snarl. She watched him, not making a move as he continued to dance in her personal space and nip at her, she soundlessly gathered her haunches when she figured out how long he waited before nipping her again. She pounced, her muscles rippling, as landed right behind him. With one swip of her mighty paw, she took out his legs, or at least she hoped she did. She sprang back shifting into a white bunny before taking off into the woods,Catch me if you can, little Jai.she snickered as she shifted from one fast animal to the other.}

_{Jai rolled with Ember's blow, on his paws in an instant. Wolves are known for their stamina, Luna, the wolf pointed out, darting after the rabbit without hesitation. You're gonna have a hard time outrunning me. Jai lowered his muzzle and head, stretching out his strides. His heartbeat was slow and steady, his breathing calm. He was perfectly at ease running for miles. He zipped through the forest after his mate, eyes and earned pinned on the bobbing form of Ember. With a low growl, Jai pushed himself further. He bounded after the creature his mate had taken the form of, leaping forward in one last moment. He soared through the air, slammed down next to his mate, turning his muzzle to snap at his mate. With utter and complete gentleness, Jai snapped his jaws down on Ember's scruff, swinging her form into the air. He didn't slow, simply hurtling himself faster.}

_{Ember reacted on pure instinct when she was thrown into the air, she shifted into a falcon and took flight, her small wings carrying her easily as she glided in the sky. She didn't have to put to much energy shooting through the sky, the wind carried her, and lifted her higher and higher in the sky. She circled back and headed back for the training area.How is this helping me? I won't be fighting a wolf.. I'll be fighting a Strigoi. They're much faster and stronger than me. Ember questioned, nothing hateful in her tone, just curiosity.}

_{Jai swung himself around, loping back towards the clearing. He loped with a lazy air, tongue lolling, green eyes easy. His paws made nary a sound as he moved, the soft black fur of his coat bobbing lightly with gravity. Jai tilted his head to the sky, watching as Ember spiraled up and up. He knew she was safe up there from Strigoi and Cibarium, but he wouldn't put it past Kayran to attempt to kidnap her. The wolf let out a low growl. I would be much more comfortable if you were down here, on the earth, with me. He voice was rough, but gentle; his possessive nature - all males who were mated were completely and wholly possessive, but it was in good nature - made him uncomfortable when he couldn't really see his mate as she spiraled upwards, further and further away.}

_{Ember let out an amused caw as she glided back down to the earth. A symbol of grace as she landed delicately on a branch, she watched her mate barrel toward her, she phased into a cougar and gathered her haunches. She leapt and landed beside her mate. As soon as she hit the ground, she took off, her cougar form melted away and in it's place there was a stunning white wolf. She slowed in a lope, beside her mate. Mine. she teased. A startled yelp broke her laughter. Barrow barreled into her, sending her flying. He didn't waste time and grabbed her scuff and started hauling the opposite way. It didn't matter to him that Ember was Jai's mate and not his. All that mattered to him was that he loved her and that he loved her first. She was his in his mind and nothing would change that.}

<sub>Jai struck then. He slammed into Barrow, scoring his fangs across the wolf's side. Mine, he snarled to Ember. He took carefully measured steps, head low, teeth bared, and placed himself between Barrow and Ember. His hackles were raised, green eyes burning with fury. Another male had touched what was his, and in Jai's book, that meant Barrow deserved to die.

The wolf snapped his jaws, snarling fiercely. Mine, he repeated. My mate. Not his. His words were brutish and cut off, as if Jai's beast was ruling him now. His green eyes glowed with hatred, ears flat, quite literally quivering with the need to rip out Barrow's throat.</sub>
