Josie pricked her ears at Leto and her tail wagged a bit in greeting. "See anything new?" She asked as she scratched behind her ear.

Leto shook his head, sinking down onto his haunches next to Josie. "Not really." He relaxed into an easy stance, tongue lolling slightly.

"That's good. Things have been pretty tense around here, huh?" Josie said, panting slightly from the heat. "Not knowing when the vamps are going to attack has gotten the adults strung out pretty far. They even have us doing extra patrols. And we've never even battled with a Strigoi before. I've never even seen one."
About that time Jane entered the clearing of the Pack House. She then pricked her ears suddenly and dashed back into the woods, only to re-appear a few moments later in her human form. She was dressed in black cut off jean shorts, white converse, and a plain white tank top. Her hair was cut at an angle and was a jet black darker than night, making her golden amber eyes seem even more metallic.

Leto nodded in agreement. "Yeah, Fane's pretty intense. He's been training me and a few other pups vigorously. I'm exhausted."
Fane paced back and forth inside the pack house, eyes narrowed, hands behind his back. He was so tense, so worried that he wouldn't be able to protect the young'uns when the time came. Doru had charged him with training the pups and protecting them, even if the cost was his life. Fane was honored. But, after a few weeks of training, he was even more worried. The pups were fat and lazy, really, lulled into a relaxed mindset by the idea that war would never happen. Except Leto, Fane mused. The young pup was the top of his class and showed great promise. The rest of the pups needed more time to get their fighting skills down pat - but time was something they didn't have.

"Our mom has been training us. She says we've gotten pretty far in the training. She makes me focus on speed while Jane practices her fighting moves." Josie yapped before trotting to her sister and rubbed her head on Jane's knee. She returned to her post and sat while Jane walked over.
It was clear to see that the thin girl was tired. Cuts from thorn bushes and briars glistened on her arms and a viscous scratch raced down her cheek. Not being a pure blood, it took slightly longer for her wounds to heal. Her pitch black hair had a few leaves in it and circles marked under her eyes. "I've been on patrols for hours. Boarder patrols, hunting patrols, territory patrols. If it has 'patrol' in it, then I have done it in the past day and night. I'm so tired. All I've had to eat in the past day and a half is a scrawny squirrel." She sighed, running a hand through her hair. "Even the animals know something bad is going to happen soon. There aren't any birds chirping, there is no smell of deer or fox anywhere. The trashcans haven't been raided by opossum or coons in a week. The only thing left are the squirrels. And there aren't many of them left. The only thing lingering are the Ravens... and who knows how long we'll last here." she muttered the last part before trudging inside to find a quiet place to sleep.

Leto vanished for a moment, returning in his fully human form. His eyes were an easy, yet stormy, gray, knowing and yet gentle. His hair, like Fane's, was a deep ebon, seeming to absorb all light that came by. His face still held the mask of boyish youth, though it was beginning to gain the lines of adolescence. "Ravens - is that what she said?" Leto sounded worried. "I heard Fane talking about the Strigoi - and he said something about the Strigoi being able to phase into ravens." He glanced in the direction Jane had gone. "Should probably ask her about it," he muttered, more to himself than anything. "I should tell Fane."

Josie nodded, trotting inside. She went into the bathroom and phased, coming out as her human self. She brushed back her honey blond hair and went in search of her sister. She saw that Jane was sleeping soundly and decided to find Leto again instead. "They can shift into ravens. Just as easily as we can turn into wolves." she said upon finding him. "It's creepy." she rubbed her arms to erase the chill bumps that had sprung up. She was wearing a soft, light pink sundress that complimented her blond hair as well as her green eyes. Jane and Josie were complete opposites in every way. It was odd that their human forms and wolf forms seemed to switch, Jane turning into a blond wolf and Josie turning into a black one.

Leto nodded in agreement, his stormy gray eyes growing hard. "Don't worry," he assured Josie, "I'll protect you two." To accent his point, Leto stood to his still growing height of 5'7" and puffed out his chest a bit, lifting his head high. Leto himself was wearing a pair of worn and faded jeans and a soft, black t-shirt that brought out the gray of his eyes. His soft black hair was a tad messy, a few strands sticking up here and there. Defiant strands draped in his eyes, framing his face a bit. "It is a bit scary that they can hide like that," he agreed after a moment, "but the adults must've prepared for this. No wonder they've had us do so many patrols."

Josie, standing at only 5'5, smiled a little. She reached up and smoothed out the locks of hair that were sticking up on his head before speaking. "Jane can take care of herself. I'm not too good at fighting though." She shrugged. "They probably have. There usually aren't too many bigger birds like crows and ravens around here. Usually just the little song birds. So the adults have probably learned to notice when there are ravens around." She shuddered a little at the thought of steel eyed crows watching them from the trees.
