Jane walked into the room, peeling off her baggy white tank top to expose the gash and the other few scratches along her back and sides while her back was to him. She used one hand to hold the tshirt to cover her chest while she brushed her hair away with her other hand. Her tan skin was sunkissed and seemed like a perfect balance compared to her pitch black hair.

Josie nodded, turning and padding back towards the pack house.

Jaci moved down and rested her head on his shoulder. She squeezed her eyes closed and sighed quietly, glad that Fane was there with her.

_{Ember's eyes fluttered open and she gasped for air, her bones were knitting back together and it hurt. She whimpered, before she was thrust back under the world of unconsciousness. Her mind surged and touched Jai's briefly and than relaxed. Once again she opened her eyes,"Jai."she said, smiling up at him. Her hand went up to cup his face,"I'm healing."she whispered.}

_{"Thankn the Great Spirit," Jai murmured, holding his mate close to him. When he felt the brush of her mind he relaxed a bit, though he doubted he'd be letting her out of his sight any time soon. This was Ember, the other half of his soul, his mate; he couldn't let her die. He wouldn't let her die. He'd kill anyone who even came close to her. He kill them all and he wouldn't feel bad about it.}

_{Ember smiled,"Did you really think you could get rid of me that easily?"she asked, but she broke into a coughing fit. She smiled softly as she gently reached up and touched his forehead,"Take me home."she said and than her eyes rolled back in her head and she fell asleep.}

_{Jai nodded, holding his mate close. Home would be a long walk off, but he wasn't quite ready to release the grip on his mate. He stood, keeping his grip on his mate tight and yet gentle as he turned and headed into the direction of their home. He kept his footfalls gentle, careful not to wake his mate. He went out of his way to avoid roots or crunchy sticks and leaves; his mate needed to rest.}

_{Erik walked to his desk, opening a drawer on the left side. He removed a first aid kit and dug through it, finding an antiseptic ointment and a pain relieving thing. He smeared the numbing ointment around Jane's wound, waiting a few moments until he poked her and she didn't respond. He then spread a bit of the antiseptic oil and then pressed some gauze against the wound, then wrapping an Ace Bandage around Jane's midsection. "There," he said. "All better."}

Jane slipped her shirt back on, turning to face Erik. "Thanks. It feels a lot better now." She said, her face free of any pain. Instead it was back to her normal expression of boldness mixed with serenity.

_{Ember smiled in her sleep and she shifted. Her form shortened and fur sprouted from her body. She became a small and tiny leopard cub.
Her tail coiled around Jai's wrist and she purred.}

<sub>Erik nodded. "Let me know if it starts to hurt or itch or anything," he told her, blinking his eyes slowly.

Jai smiled slightly, tightening his arms around the little cub slightly. He cradled her close to his chest as the home loomed into view and he couldn't help the flare of nervousness in his stomach. He was scared that there was someone waiting for him, for his mate.</sub>

Orenda popped out of the front door, smiling brightly at her brother and sister-in-law. "Hey Jai-bird!" She pipped, standing out on the porch as she waited for them to get closer. She looked so much like their mother it was stunning; Black ebony curls down to her waist, the same shape and skin tone, the only thing differing was her light lilac eyes.

"I will." Jane said with a nod. She wanted to say more, but wasn't sure what.
