Ember laughed softly,"Why would you? You'll never lose me, old friend."she whispered in his ear. Barrow's grip around her waist was tight and held Ember tightly against him. His gripped tightened as Ember's breath tickled his ear. Physical pain shot through Barrow, oh how he yearned for Ember, but he knew that was her call not his. As long as she was his and his only he could wait.

Ember bit down on her tongue so she wouldn't cry out in pain. His grip was hurting her freshly bruised sides. Even though they wouldn't scar, there was still a bit of tenderness there. She pushed him off of her and yelped in shock as he smashed her against his muscular chest.

Barrow glanced down frightened he hurt the young princess and smiled softly when he saw he wasn't hurting or so he thought. "Your my princessa. Promise me. Promise no one else can have you."he whispered, before he crushed his mouth to her's.

<sub>Jai's claws sank deep into the earth, his breath coming quickly. He struggled with every part of him not to go and rip out Barrow's throat. How dare he? Drunken teenagers were idiots, Jai concluded, crouching closer to the earth. His form shifted, morphing into a massive black wolf, although he did not attack. He ground his teeth together, waiting. Ember must've know he was there... she would ask for his help in a moment or two. She'd never let it get too far. Jai flattened his ears and smothered the growl that was building in his throat.

He couldn't sit still and so he allowed himself to pace, though he was utterly silent when he did so. His paws made a sound, his black fur melding into the world around him. When Barrow crushed Ember to his chest, Jai couldn't stop the soft growl that left him, but he knew Barrow was too preoccupied to hear.</sub>

<sub>Ember grunted as she pulled away from him,"Barrow, quit. You're being weird. C'mon let's go back to the party."she said, taking his hand in her's. She didn't have time to react when Barrow picked her up and pressed her into a near by tree. It looked like the same exact that unfolded earlier that day, expect instead of Barrow hitting her, he was kissing her roughly. Fury suddenly erupted from Ember and she snarled as she broke the kiss,"Do you not know what no means? I love you, but not like this. Let me go." She snarled, trying to find a handhold on the tree behind her.

Barrow's fury rose to match the princess's,"Why? Why should I let go? Your mine. You always have been seen we were kids."he snapped right back, but instead of letting go. His grip tightened.</sub>

<sub>Jai coughed in an attempt to smother his snarl and prowled a tad closer, allowing Ember to know he was there. He'd made a promise and, oddly, some part of him refused to break it. He'd help when Ember asked him to. He growled, flattening his ears against his skull. His lips pulled back over glowing white teeth, tail lashing furiously. Jai Templar looked positively furious as he crouched to the ground, readying himself to pounce. He growled softly, struggling not to rip out Barrow's throat. He could if he wanted to in less than a second; there was no doubt about that much.

"Why?" Costin huffed. "I don't need anymore servants, that much is for sure. So why should I turn you? I turned Barnabus because he had something to offer me. What do you have to offer me?"</sub>

<sub>Ember glanced up as soon as she heard the cough, her eyebrows furrowed as she gaze at the cat. Why was a cat here? Her drunk mind couldn't process it and she frowned. Barrow watched as Ember lifted her eyes to the cat and anger shot through his veins."This is how you repay me for loving you? You call your body guard? How dare you, Ember!"he hissed, his tone as cold as ice. He raised his hand as if to strike her and that's when Ember's mind cleared. She was a blur as her hand shot out and wrapped around his neck. Her muscles tensed as she slammed him to the forest floor."You will never touch me again. It that understood?"she snarled. The princess glanced at Jai,"I told you I could take care of myself."she snarled as she phased into a falcon and took off.

Alec looked around,"I have nothing, my lord, but my service to offer you."he said, bowing his head.</sub>

Jai growled softly and shifted. "Love?" he spat at Barrow. "You know nothing of love. Love does not force itself on anyone, no should a lover force itself on another." His eyes flashed and he ground his teeth. "You're drunk, Ember. You could easily get both of us killed, and this wolf here almost raped you. Is that what you call defending yourself? You're my -" Jai cut imself off, his hands curled into fists. "No, Ember," he said, very slowly. "I'm aware you can take care of yourself. If you hate me that much take it up with your father. As for you, wolf," he growled, "I should kill you for even attempting to push yourself onto her. Your friend here is all that's stopping me from ripping out your heart. Is that understood?" Jai looked absolutely furious, his entire form quivering.

Costin yawned. "I'm not interested in bringing down the Schimba at the moment, little one. Perhaps another time."

Ember looked absolutely stunned, she circled around, and landed delicately on a near by branch. She peered down at the two, seeming to consider her options, with a ruffle of her feathers, she flew down and phased. Her hands on hips and her eyes narrowed,"You're my what?"she snarled, glancing at Barrow.

Barrow snarled,"How dare you lecture me about love when you know nothing of it yourself!"he fists curled and his eyes began burn with rage. "I dare you to try and kill me. I dare you. We'll see who wins, shapeshifter."


Alec sputtered and shook his head in despair. He phased into a raven and left heading for home.</sub>

<sub>"Doesn't matter," Jai spat. "Your friend here's challenged me. I wonder who'll win?" he growled, circling Barrow. Do not interfere, Ember. You could get hurt. And I mean it. I won't kill him, if that's what you're wondering. Jai curled his lip back. "Well then, wolf. What're you waiting for? I interrupted your little make-out session with your mate. Doesn't that make you mad?" he taunted, eyes flashing.

Jai stood his ground, as he'd been taught to do, and carefully watched Barrow for any sign of hostility. He hadn't gained his position as the best fighter the Schimba had to offer by standing around. No, Jai had fought his entire life, and wasn't about to give in to a stupid little Priciolici. "C'mon, pup," he spat. "What's the matter? You scared?"</sub>

<sub>Ember eyes widened and sputtered, Jai, no. He doesn't know what he's asking. Jai, no. she circled around and took up perch on the branch. Her eyes watchful and rather fearful as she watched Jai circle her long time childhood friend.

Barrow chuckled,"Trying backing your bark with your bite for once."he said, his tone flat. He tensed, waiting for just the right time, he pounced and as he did so he shifted. The brown wolf slammed into the Jai, his claws outstretched. He wanted to rip Jai's throat out for insulting him in front of his mate. He would pay, Barrow decided.</sub>

<sub>In one fluid movement Jai's hand shot out, closed around Barrow's muzzle, and twisted. The result was a painful jerk of Barrow's head to the side. Even as he did this, Jai slammed his fist into Barrow's ribs and threw the wolf away, cracking his neck. "Is that all you've got?" he growled. "I haven't even shifted. Your great fighting skills consist of trying to tear out my throat? Tsk tsk."

Hush, Ember. I won't hurt him; but he needs to learn.

Jai yawned boredly. "C'mon," he whined. "I was looking forward to a challenge. But you're just a joke; you don't even compare to me. I haven't even needed to shift!" he huffed. "Do better than that, little wolfie. Surely you're not that weak Barrow."</sub>
