"Then I'll make sure she doesn't see me," Anne smiled sweetly at Sutton and made a faint kissy noise to her mount. Lightning's ears angled back to listen and his head shot up, picking up at a fast trot. Anne figured, the sensitive gelding didn't need much encouragement, he was the easiest horse to get to do what you want, so long as you were gentle. Anne didn't even have to squeeze his sides, and as she made more kissy noises he got into a lope, neck arching as Anne headed for the trails.
--
Jordan raised a brow and urged Clyde, who started at a fast walk before getting into a bouncy, long gaited trot after Anne and Lightning. The gelding followed suit into the expanse of the hundreds of acres Heartland owned, eager to go on a relaxing trail ride. Jordan was tired of work.

Sutton rolled her eyes, following them out of the barn an onto the trail. Once Soda settled in to the familiar path, her hoofprints adding to those left from trail rides past, the young female's eyes closed halfway. She relaxed in the saddle, and it was almost as if every worry she'd had could be seen sliding off her back. She gave a slight squeeze of her legs and Soda transitioned into a jog, her hooves thudding against the dirt path. Suddenly Sutton straightened and smirked slightly, glancing over at Jordan, seeing as Anne was loping Lightning a bit farther ahead. "Do you wanna race?" she asked him, her hazel brown gaze holding a slight gleam.

Once Anne got far enough ahead, she slowed to a walk, out of sight of her Mom so she couldn't get caught without her helmet. She rubbed Lightning's neck; the gelding was actually fairly fast, with his long legs and long torso, and she was hoping if she got him comfortable enough he would be an excellent jumping or barrel horse.
Jordan grinned. He leaned forward, patting Clyde's neck. The gelding arched his neck, "only if you like eating my dust," he teased as his gelding shook out his mane.

Sutton shrugged, before tossing a grin. "Not if you eat mine first," she shot back. "Readysetgo!" She kicked Soda into a lope, the mare steadily lengthening her stride as she gained more ground. Sutton didn't look back to see if he'd gotten the queue that the race had started; she had a smile on her face and the wind tossed her ponytail back and forth against her back, her eyes crinkled slightly. This was her favorite feeling: adrenaline.

It didn't take long before Jordan let out a loud whistle and gave Clyde a kick. The gelding's head sprung up and his butt ducked as he scrambled forward, eventually getting his footing right as he went into a full on gallop, covering earth quick. His brown eyes were wide, and it didn't take long before he breezed past Lightning. Anne cursed after the two, holding Lightning back as the sorrel desperately tried to go along with the duos.
