"Ow," Jai huffed, rubbing absently at his chest. Though Ever hadn't meant it, she'd jostled the sealing wound and had most likely tugged it open again. Jai didn't know this; he was simply sore, and she'd jerked his muscles painfully.
"Of course I am," Lauren huffed. "It's homemade soup - and on top of that, it's my homemade soup. I still hope it chokes Jai though." Lauren suddenly smacked herself in the forehead. "Oh, dammit, I forgot the bread! I'll be right back."
Lauren left the room in a rush, zipping downstairs to pull the warm, fresh French bread from the oven. She placed the loaves in a basket and returned to Jai's room, the smell of fresh bread now mingling with the smell of Lauren's rather-famous homemade chicken noodle soup.

Ember still didn't look at him,"A little pain didn't hurt anyone."she whispered, her eyes following Lauren as she left. She sighed as she greedily began to eat her soup. Her hunger grew as she saw the loaves of fresh bread,"Gimme."she ordered, a grin on her face. She grabbed for the bread and smiled when she dipped it into her soup,"Yum. God, I love you, Lauren. Marry me."she said, dropping down to one knee. She took a major bite out of bread that she had dipped in the soup. She grinned at her best friend as she offered a small piece of bread,"Lauren will you marry me? See this is an amazing ring."she joked, smirking.

"You," Lauren said as she readied a bowl for Jai, "are already mated to that broken and injured man on the bed. However, I will continue to cook for you out of the love of my heart." She snagged a loaf of bread and placed the bowl and bread on Jai's lap. "Jeesh," she sighed, "look at me. I'm a damn servant now, and not your cook anymore. Woe is me." Lauren shook her head and replaced the lid to the soup pot so as to keep the heat in and keep the soup nice and warm.
"I'm hurt," Jai said as Ember 'proposed' to Lauren. "So hurt." He grinned, accepting the soup, and dove into the meal offered to his injured self. He was starving, though he'd never admit it; his body had used up most of its precious energy stores trying to heal.

Ember laughed softly as she feigned an aching heart,"You've have broken my heart."she teased as she got up and sat on the bed,"See? If you woulda married me you wouldn't be."she said and glanced at her mate,"Oh, poop. Why would I want to marry you ? She's an amazing cook!"she teased as she leaned back against the pillows. (Sorry short)

Jai rolled his eyes, mopping up the extra soup with the bread. He devoured it in a few swift bites, turning to curl Ember's form against his right side. Mine, he told her, his mental voice soft. He turned his face, burying it in Ember's hair. She smelled so good. He was perfectly at home here, with Ember curled next to him and safe in his arms. He wouldn't let a single thing in this world harm a hair on her head. No f-ing way. He murmured some wordless praise, pulling her a tad tighter to him.
Lauren huffed. "No, I'd still be a darn servant - only I'd be serving your sorry bum. Oh, wait. I do that anyway, Miss Princess." She pointed on finger at her best friend, giving a single huff. "Now, if you'll excuse me, I'd better take this stuff back downstairs.

Ember laughed softly, shaking her head,"And don't you forget it!"she called after her. She glanced up at her mate,"Nope. Sorry. Not to burst your bubble, but you're mine."she grinned as she laid her hands over his. It was still strange for her to have found her mate. Ember couldn't believe she had ever been mean to him. She leaned up and kissed his forehead,"Mine."she repeated.
Sarafina stared off into the distance, her head leaned against the rough bark. She didn't know what to do. All she wanted was to please her masters, but she was starting to wonder if living forever was worth it.
Alec snarled softly, he was starving. Where was that damn cook that was his sisters best friend. Anger controted his evil, yet handsome features.

Malachi nudged Sarafna gently. "You're thinking about the future," he said, though it was not posed as a question. It was simply a fact. "And whether or not undeath was worth it." He himself had often wondered such a thing, though he had never voiced his thoughts to anyone. No, especially not Costin. The bastard wouldn't understand; Costin only wanted power. That's it. He didn't give a damn about anything else, and especially not the Strigoi he had created over the long long years. Nope.
"Damn straight," Jai purred. He rolled her over, pinning her beneath him."Mine," he said again.
Lauren struggled with the pot, dragging it to Alec's room. Fear flooded her gaze, though she tried to be brave and smother it. Alec had never struck her - yet. When she finally reached his door, she gently knocked, waiting for him to blow up.

Ember giggled, squirming halfheartedly underneath him,"Damn straight."she echoed him, a grim on her lips. She tilted her head to look at him,"Who are you andWhat have you done with Jai?"she teased softly, used to their constant fighting. She lifted her head and kissed him softly."Quit. Let me go. You sir need to heal so you and my dad can train me."sh said, smiling at him.
Sarafina nodded, her gaze drifting to his face,"I was in a bad place when he found me. He promised me happiness as long as I received the bite. But I'm starting to wonder if it was worth it. Being forever."she murmured.
Alec's eyes narrowed just the slightest,"Come in."he snared shifting his weight.(Brb, going horse back riding)/sub]

"Nope," Jai murmured, pinning her down. "I like you right where you are, mi corozon." He grinned, nuzzling her lightly. "Mine," he growled softly, rolling her out from under him again. He held her tight to his chest, though. No way he was letting his mate go - not when he'd just found her. He wanted to keep her close, and make sure she was safe.
"Costin is very typical in how he sways his followers into choosing undeath. It is rare that he needs to resort to attacking or coercion to make a new Strigoi." Malachi shook his head in disgust. "You have forever to make your own life now, whether it be beneath Costin's influence or not. You have your own choices to make, and can now make them without fear."
Lauren nudged to door open after turning the knob, carrying the pot and bread in soundlessly. She did not make eye-contact.

Ember raised an eyebrow,"Well aren't we possessive and rather protective? I hope I can break that out of you."she teased, but really she didn't want him not to be. She loved that he was so protective of her. She leaned her head back against him, listening to his heartbeat as she closed her eyes."I'd never thought I'd be here."she whispered.
Sarafina tilted her head,"I'm not sure I want forever. I just wanted something better. I didn't want this though."she whispered, she glanced back at him."How do you do it?"she asked.
Alec's eyes narrowed,"Bow."he snapped as he sat up on the edge of the bed. He stood, his muscles rippling. All he wore was a pair of loose jeans and his hair was ruffled."Place it on my desk."he snapped, coming to stand infront of the unfortunate best friend of the princess. It was a shame really. He treated everyone like so though, well everyone expect his father.
