Hidden deep in the forest lives a wolf pack that the people of the small village located on the pack's territory have talked about for centuries. The wolves aren't normal. These wolves are colored. Their fur contains weird streaks of unnatural color. The streaks are tattoos of some sort. The elders in the village say that the gods of nature give the wolves these marks from ontop of the highest mountain in their territory, Mount Saffron. The mountain is named for the purplish hue it gets at sunset. At the foot of the mountain is a large open meadow full of tall plains grass. At the edge of the meadow lies a forest of tall, gray trees. Mist hangs in the air of the forest, no matter the weather is beyond the forest. In the very back of the large expanse of forest, the thickest part where it meets the drop off of a cliff, is where the main pack stays. The dens are in the large hollow trees, the alpha den being in a cave under an outcropping of rocks. The thick forest helps protect the pack, their coats blending in with the woody colors. Except for the strange marks. This is the territory of the Paints.
There are actually two other packs in the Paint Territory, both different branches off of the main pack. One pack, the Baikos, live in the rocky outcroppings in the mountains above the forest. Their streaks range from the lightest of blues to the darkest of indigos. The other pack, the Ravas, live in a small cave in a valley leading beyond Mount Saffron. Their streaks range from a soft, rosy pink to a fiery blood red.
The main pack, which is basically in charge of all the packs on the territory, is known as just the Painters. They're streaks can be any color, from white to green to yellow to red to blue to black. They live in the forest that I described earlier. The alpha's name is Pastel, named for his black coat with light tattoos on it. His history is vague, not even his mate Pyka knows about his past. All that is known is that he was once a companion to the chief of the tiny human village nearby.
The alpha wolves are basically the beta's to Pastel, though they are real alphas in their own packs. But Pastel is the over all alpha.

[Thanks to kolokawolfpack.web.com] Pack Terms
Alpha- An Alpha is the leader of the pack. They see each member of the pack as family and make decisions that will benefit the survival of the pack. They decide the final say in group hunts, where they hunt and how it is followed through. The Alpha is to help maintain an even temper and bond of the family. The Alphas have the final say so in everything, yet act only for the good of the pack.
Beta- The Beta wolf is the second ranking individual within the dominance hierarchy. They are to show respect to every pack member, but only listen to the Alpha. If the Alpha is not present, then the Beta is left in charge until the Alpha returns. If there is no Alpha, the Beta becomes Alpha. They are trusted advisers to the Alpha and may call hunts.
Delta- Delta is third in command in the pack. If a Beta steps down for some reason, the Delta becomes the next Beta. Deltas are basically Betas in training. They are young wolves, usually pups of the Alpha, being trained to help lead the pack. But it is also possible for one to remain Delta without moving to a Beta position.
Sentinel- Sentinels are to ensure that the pack is safe by patrolling the territory and watching the movements of the surroundings. They are to make sure that no intruders enter the main living area of the pack. In doing so, it is a Sentinel's responsibility to greet visitors and learn why they are here and where they come from. When the Sentinel is not present within the clearing or if there is none, the greeting responsibilities go to all Adult Pack members. It is also the Sentinel's job to keep fights from breaking out between visitors and the pack, and also keep fights from breaking out between pack members. They are also aloud to give a temporary ban between members that constantly fight, but the Alpha must be informed as well as the Beta.
Hunters- Hunters may be male or female, big or small, and may become a Hunter at the age of one year. It is the Hunter's responsibility to make sure that the pack always has food and to know where food will be throughout the year. They also must be good at tracking. The most skilled Hunter will be the Lead Hunter and will be in charge of all the hunts, beside the Alpha and Beta. They decide when and where to hunt and tell each member when it is their turn to help bring down the selected prey. Also the Lead Hunter may break up the Hunters into smaller hunter parties if needed.
Fighters- Fighters are usually bigger males and females of the pack that are excellent at fighting and defending. They are the protectors of the pack and the pups that are training to be fighters go through a year long period in which they learn battle moves, strategies, and techniques so that they are prepared when they become real Fighters. The most skilled fighter is the Head Fighter. They assign older Fighters to help train pups. Fighters are usually the most courageous and loyal pack members. They also help the Hunters some times when taking down bigger prey, but that is left up to the Lead Hunter and Head Fighter to decide.
Caretaker- The Caretaker is like the nurse of the pack. They show interest and skill in caring for weakened pack mates and also watch over the older or ill wolves of the Pack. It is usually a wolf that is too small for hunting or fighting. A good Caretaker needs to know what injuries are serious and what injuries can heal on their own. They also must be stern to the wounded, since many wolves will insist they aren't hurt. Caretakers enforce rest on hurt and ill wolves.
Elders-An Elder's opinion is greatly respected throughout the pack, being advisors to both Alphas and Betas. They are asked to be role models to the pack, both to adults and pups. They are older members who have decided to make the pack their final resting place, and might have been a past Alpha or Beta. They sometimes help watch the pups of the pack.
Omegas- Omegas are the lowest rank in the pack. The Omega is usually a young wolf that is very new to pack life and still learning or a wolf that has been lowered in rank due to wrong actions. They watch over the pups and are usually to stay inside the living area of the pack.

Pastel watched as his two pups wrestled in the dust outside of the Alpha's den. He chuckled slightly when Russet toppled over clumsily, his feet too big for his body. Russet, the male, was a ruddy red-brown with flame colored markings on his body; yellow, orange, red and gray marked his soft fur. He was going to be a strong wolf when he got older, judging by the size of his paws. He towered over his petite sister, Turtle, already. She was a meek, sleek, silver female wolf cub with markings of many different shades of green. A green patch covered her back almost entirely, making a sort of shell form. Of course, she was named after the shelled turtle. It fit her personality too. She was soft spoken, humble, and liked to take her time with things. Though, judging by her lithe body she would be a swift runner some day. Pastel was very proud of his two cubs. He loved them with all his being, as did his mate, Pyka. She was currently resting in the den that she, Pastel, and their children slept in.

[ok I have a question] [are the wolf's coats like normal wolves, only with weird colors?] [And can my wolf be the odd one of Pastel's pack, cause he's a red wolf?]
[well that was more than a question but still!]
