ฬєlς๏๓є to the twenty-first century, a time filled with science, empowerment, and self-importance. Brilliant minds combat illness through the help of science, curing deadly diseases and debilitating disabilities. Human population has surged to over seven billion people and continues to grow. Wars rage between countries, while peace flourishes between others. The United States remains one of the most powerful countries, the face of freedom standing strong in the west. Science has become a focal point, with many new discoveries blooming and new medicines being concocted. New advances in technology allow for better detection of illness among humans, and allow for better screening. Humans believe they know everything - but do they, really? The immortal lurk within their crowds, undetected.

What is an immortal? An immortal, in layman's terms, is quite simply a vampire. Of course, many of them dislike that term greatly; the stereotype of a vampire is a soulless blood-drinker that can be harmed by religious artifacts and is allergic to garlic and holy water. In an immortal's case, this is untrue. Immortals are able to enter churches, and holy artifacts have no effect on them. They are able to consume garlic with no side-effects. Immortals are kept in peak form by microscopic nanos in their bloodstream, forever staying around twenty and twenty-five years old. These nanos adapted the host's body, forcing them to evolve to survive. The immortals gained fangs that were able to soak up the blood of their donors without it ever having to pass their tongue. They gained the ability to read minds and control the minds and actions of mortals.
In the twenty-first century, immortals are forbidden from feeding "off the hoof" unless in times of an emergency. In order to reduce the threat of attention, immortals, in North America, at least, switched to consuming bagged blood. There are several laws that immortals must live by, but those will be discussed at a later time.

The original of the immortals dates back to the mystical world of Atlantis. Yes, that is correct; Atlantis. The kingdom was far beyond the rest of the world in terms of technology, developing a microscopic nano that could be shot directly into the bloodstream sometime around 200 B.C.E. At this time, the world was still stuck with stone and wood tools and no technology or machinery at all - except Atlantis. They were vastly isolated from the rest of the world and so was able to develop much faster, and keep their technology and advancements to themselves.
The Atlantean scientists developed a nano that could be shot directly into a patient's bloodstream. These nanos were designed to repair the host's body, curing anything from cancer to arthritis to any injury and then shut down. The nanos were designed to use blood to complete their objective and propel themselves, but it turned out that they used more blood than the human body could create. There was a slight design flaw in the nanos, however; the scientists, in their designing of the nanos, did not take into account the damage done to the human body by aging or sunlight or even breathing. They designed the nanos to return the body to peak condition and shut down; the human body, however, is constantly under attack and as a result, the nanos remained and worked vigorously to keep their host healthy.
The nanos, designed to use blood to propel themselves and heal the host's body, used more blood than the body could produce. As a result, when Atlantis still remained, those infected received blood transfusions constantly in order to keep them healthy. However, when Atlantis fell from the result of a volcanic eruption, an earthquake, and a tsunami, those who had been infected with the nanos were the only ones to walk away from the ruins of the ancient city. The scientists fell with their city, lost among those who were not infected with the nanos. After the horrific destruction, the survivors were faced with a predicament: they did not have the blood they needed to survive.
The nanos were created to keep the host alive and in peak condition and did just that, forcing the person to evolve. They developed fangs and the ability to control a human's mind, able to make the bite painless and wipe the mind of the donor afterwards. In order to survive without being discovered, the immortals began to hunt at night and formed laws to live by. These laws included: only one child could be born every one-hundred years; each immortal could turn only one other throughout their entire lifetime. Children born to immortals were born immortal as well, gaining their mother's nanos. Later, with the advent of blood banks, another law was added: do not feed off of humans. The killing of a human meant that an immortal had most likely gone rogue and their fate would consist of being "staked and baked", meaning that the immortal in question would be staked in the sunlight for an entire day, depriving their nanos of blood as they attempted to repair the UV-ray damage. Finally, at sunset, the immortal would be beheaded. This punishment would be executed by the council - a group of immortals chosen to law over the rest of the immortals.
To immortal society, rogue are potentially the most dangerous creature. No-fangers can be worse. What is a no-fanger, you may ask? A no-fanger is a term that developed when other immortals were forced to evolve fangs. Some immortals, for an unknown reason, did not; their nanos were defective. The no-fangers originated from the first batch of nanos tested; two out of three of those infected with this batch of nanos died or went insane and were locked up for their own safety, as well as the safety of others. With the fall of Atlantis, these no-fangers were released. One, in particular, caused much trouble: Leonidus. He and his sons were killed in a battle - all except one, but that is a story for another time.

Because immortals live indefinitely, they rarely tangle with humans. If they do, they most often wipe the human's mind and memory of their presence. Due to the witch trials and persecution of so-called "vampires," immortals got into the habit of sleeping during the day. It is no longer necessary, but cuts down on the needed consumption of blood. Immortals can, however, go out in sunlight; it only ups the need for blood, as the nanos consume it while healing the damage done by the sun's rays. One of the most prominent families among the immortals is the Argeneau family; the first of the Argeneus were the first children born infected with the nanos. Their names were Jean Claude and Lucian. Jean Claude was killed much later, while Lucian lived on to serve on the council. He is known to be a cold, heartless person, but he is not. He simply does what is necessary to protect his family and his people. The Argeneau bloodline lives in America, in Canada, and the Eastern hemisphere. Recently, many of the Argeneus have found their lifemates.
To find a lifemate is a rare occurence, something that generally only happens once in an immortal's existence, unless you are lucky. A lifemate is one of the most important things to an immortal. Because immortals are able to read minds, and not just those of humans, they are forced to guard their thoughts, keeping walls up. When one finds a lifemate, they are able to relax their guard. The first sign of a lifemate is most often the inability to read the other person's mind. This is rapidly followed by a failure to guard one's thoughts and a reappearance of an appetite for food, among other more intimate things. After centuries, food becomes a boring irritant more than anything else. However, when a lifemate is found, the taste of food is doubled and the immortal finds more pleasure in living. A lifemate is a precious thing that most immortals regard highly and guard with their lives.

The plot of this roleplay will follow Enforcers and other immortals on their hunt for rogues and a particular no-fanger self-named Leonidus II. Of course, several immortals can (and most likely will) find their lifemates among the humans and other immortals they encounter. Friends will be made, enemies will be beaten, and bridges will be burned and rebuilt. We're in for a crazy ride, ladies and gentlemen; best keep your hands and feet inside the vehicle at all times.

{ ✤ } Listen to my moderators. Though I'm the most amazing of the group [;P] you should still listen to their advice. They'll stand in my place as admin when I'm not here.
{ ✤ } I don't expect you to be a professional writer, but I do expect you to type a few good sentences or more per post. I also expect is for you to do your best to keep up with your fellow RPers. By this I simply mean that you should do your best to keep this RP active, exciting, and realistic. This means maintaining at least a little bit of literacy, or a lot if you so choose.
{ ✤ } Be active. I cannot stress this enough. Now, I know that a lot of us (me included) have a lot going on off of the forums. But I think it's fair to ask that you get on to RP as much as you can!
{ ✤ } Get along. This one is simple. If you decide to disrupt the clan by picking on other members, you will kindly be asked to leave. I do not tolerate bullying of any kind. If you think someone is out of line, let me handle it. I think this RPing community should be as much of a family as inside of the story, so it's best if we all get along!
{ ✤ } Be realistic! While there are immortals will some extra abilities, I will not necessarily allow this unless I am explicitly asked. If you wish to change the plot any, ask me!
{ ✤ } I don't really mind spamming that much as long as you're members of the roleplay. You may talk about things outside of the RP, just try not to fill up page after page of out of character chatting.
{ ✤ } DO NOT COPY. I add this rule because I spend a good two to three hours making this roleplay and I would be very upset if someone took advantage of my hard work. Should you chose to copy, I will report you, go 'Cloudy smash' on you, and be one unhappy person. Don't do it! It's not worth the consequences!
