Raphael did not sleep. He studied the patterns of Luke's ceiling, following ever minute crack and minuscule chip in the pain with resigned amber eyes. He did not move from Hope's embrace, though he carefully kept himself from relaxing into it. To keep himself focused, he recited - well, he recited the Sith Code. Corny, right? "Peace is a lie; there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me." No matter how ridiculous it seemed, Raphael had lived his life on a few of those principles. It kept him sane, pretty much; it kept him from going so bloody crazy from all the crap that had happened in his life.

The frigid air seem to freeze Hope to the spot. Her heart beat began to pick speed and as fear took ahold of her. All she could see was darkness until slowly a dim light appeared and with it came two very different presence. One was as dark as night and the other was as bright as the day. A raven watched her with a friece protectiveness. The other presence was a wolf. It called out to her with its howl, begging her almost to walk toward it. Something though kept Hope frozen in place. When she finally got the courage to move she walked in the direction of the raven. Happiness flared in the raven's eyes and it opened its wings to embrace the young Shadowhunter. Hope felt relief as she stepped into its open embrace, but than the raven changed. It was no longer a raven. It was a human with the wings of an angel. Warm arms as well as feathers wrapped around Ember's body than she felt an odd pressure on her lips. It took her a moment before she realized it was kissing her. It was so dark though that she couldn't see it's face and instead of pulling away, she closed her eyes enjoy it.
All the while in the waking world, Hope was as coiled up as a spring. Her grip on Raphael was almost lethal. Her breath came in ragged gulps and her eyelids continued to flutter. When Hope stepped into the Raven's embrace her body relaxed and she even laughed in her sleep, but in the next moment. Her whole body tensed again and she cried out in sorrow and pain.
As soon as they broke apart, a great sadness overwhelmed Hope. Her heart cried out for something that she did not know. Her gaze wandered to the wolf and immediately she knew her heart was breaking. She called out to the wolf, but it simply turned and vanished into the darkness. The only thing left of it was the echo of its sorrow filled howl.

Raphael knew the female who had coiled herself around him was deep in the realm of dreams, and he dared not to wake her. Her expressions melted and changed in the blink of an eye, going from joyful and ecstatic to the expression of the purest, deepest sorrow. He let out a low grunt of frustration, gently shaking Hope in an attempt to wake her after he was certain the dream had passed. In the depths of Raphael's heart, he knew that with this dream, Hope would change. In the depths of his consciousness some part of him recognized the prophetic hold the dream had over Hope, though he sorely wished he hadn't. His amber eyes reflected the gentle worry, but resigned anger that he still held within his heart. Raphael was not quick to forget, and was even less quick to forgive. It was how he had been treated by the other Shadowhunters - the Pure-bloods, as he called them.

Raphael's attempts at waking Hope were useless, the dream was not done with her yet.
Hope's desperation grew, she broke out of the Angel's warm embrace. She tore after the wolf, but it was no use. The wolf was long gone. She turned to go back to the angel, but she could no longer see him or the wolf. Coldness spread across her body as she realized she was alone. Her breathing became ragged as the darkness seemed to close in around her. She screamed for someone, anyone, but no one came. It was just her. Suddenly when it felt like this what it. This was as far as she could go, a great warmth spread across her. She was free. Her eyes sprang open and light filled where darkness had laided and there both stood the wolf and the angel. She saw the angels face for the first time, but it wasnt who she thought it would be. It wasn't Raphael, it was the great angel Razieral. The on e who had made Shadowhunters possible. She stared at him and he simply nodded. "Raphael."was the one word that escaped its lips. Her gaze wondered to the wolf, but she no longer felt the pull. She turned and went to the angel. Finally Hope felt peace.
Hope awoke with her head clear of all problems. Everything seemed clear now. She released Raphael from her embrace and she got up."Go. Go home and not to your apartment. I mean home. Home to your mother and father. It what's you want, is it not? Go."she said and than she herself left. She needed to face her mother.

Raphael looked stunned for a minute, and then sadness flooded his gaze. "I can't," he muttered seconds before she exited the room. With shaking hands, Raphael took out his iPhone and clicked his mother's name, pressing the phone to his ear. He waited shakily through the ringing. "Yeah." Damn, it stung to hear that voice. Raphael knew his mother didn't realize it was him, but it still hurt to hear her so flippant. "M-Mom?" There was silence on the other end of the phone call. "Raph...?" "Yeah, Mom, it's me." "Don't call me again. I don't want to hear from you stupid Shadowhunters ever again."
Raphael didn't think he could be hurt much worse by anything, but to hear his mother say those words was like someone stabbing a hot sword into his heart and twisting it violently. "But... Mom, I-" "No. You're all the same. You just want to murder and cause mayhem. I was part of that. Why the hell do you think I left?" "Mom, they for-" "I know that. I was there. But you still chose to enjoy causing others pain." "Mom..." "Don't call this number again." The line went dead.

Facing her mother wasn't the only reason she was leaving. She knew if she stayed, she would hurt herself even more. During her dream she had realized, she was falling in love with him and that wasn't good for either of them. Hope needed to focus on ridding the world of demons as did Raphael. Hope was the best Shadowhunter since Will Herondale. She hated more than anything that she was breaking her own heart, but it was better to leave now rather later. It would hurt more later.

Raphael sat there for a long time, staring at his phone mutely. He couldn't believe his mother had said such a thing; he was still in denial. Like a robot, he stood, cleaned up Luke's apartment a bit, and exited. He turned right, heading silently towards the Institute. He wanted to train, to beat the living hell out of something to get rid of the pain that made it hard to breath.

Hope took a deep breath before she walked into the training room to face her mother for the first time since the Faery Realm. She mustered as must courage as she could and than entered the room.
When Hope had first arrived at the institute she had a game plan, but that had quickly vanished as soon as she stepped into her home. Fear and sorrow filled her emotions as soon as she saw her father hunched over a desk reading. "Where is she?" "Training room." Hope had left at that and gone up to her room to change. It didn't take her longer, before she found herself standing outside the training room, freshly changed into an athletic tank top and yoga shorts.
She opened the door,"Mom?"she said as she entered the room. Before she knew it though a dagger came flying at her head, but Hope had sensed it. She dodge it with ease as than she leaped into action. She grabbed two seraph tubes from the wall and leapt backwards. "Azazerial! Gabriel!"she cried and than she was a blue. Her movements were swift and well measured.

Raphael mechanically entered the training room, eyes blank. Instinctively he ducked when he heard Hope's cry, grunting lightly to himself. The dagger slammed into the wall next to Raphael's head, the metal still singing of its flight.
