Hope's Steele began to glow as soon as it struck the ground, white hot streaks of lightening spread across the flames and smothered them out, but the lightning bolts weren't normal. They were entirely made of water, light, and ice. A few strays bolt shot into the air and struck the walls of the training room. One even hit her mother. It hurt Clary, but not badly."How could you?"Hope cried as she stared at the pile of heap that was her mother. "How could you?"she repeated and than she began to cry. "I trusted you! And just like Ty you betrayed me. I trusted you."she said and than she turned and fled from the room.

Raphael met Clary's gaze evenly. "You messed up," he told the older Shadowhunter. "You might've denied the Fae Queen her prize in the end, but to even consider handing over your daughter to them for a fraction of a second broke Hope's heart and her trust. I don't think she'll ever forgive you - to be honest, I probably wouldn't - and won't. Hope's hurting, and as her mother you should've supported her. But, in the end, you did what no mother should even consider: you gave up your daughter. Not literally, no. But you've lost Hope - possibly forever." His green eyes flashed before he turned and followed Hope out of the training room. He couldn't stand to look at Clary anymore. She was a disgrace - and looking at how she and Hope had fought reminded him of his own mother's betrayal.
